Today I cleaned my backyard... spent all day in the sun, bending over and pulling weeds. I would stop to rest here and there cuz my back was killing me and my hands were full of blisters... then I felt it, the tears wanting to come out. It wasn't because of my back or blisters, it was because for a minute there I was really tired and all I could think of was how farm workers, gardeners, and all the hardworking Raza could do this on a daily and never complain... and here I am crying over a few blisters. It's moments like these that make me wake the hell up and just be thankful for every person who works really hard to put food on the table for their children, and who fight on the daily against injustice with integrity and pride just like Cesar Chavez did, and still does through all of us who keep his spirit and legacy alive. Today we remember him and celebrate his life... Long Live Cesar Chavez!!!

La Lucha Sigue... Si Se Puede!!!

Maurica is my kinda Breezy, I hella love her cuz her shit is rigorous... Dassss It and shit!!!!

Sixteen years ago today Selena was taken from us, what a sad day that was... there is not one day I don't think or talk about her, so I would like to take a minute to honor her memory. I know it might sound weird but I really do think she's my guardian angel. When ever I feel like life has given me too much to handle, or I'm feeling all sad girl, all I have to do is play some of her music and somehow all is good once again... and you best believe I have a Selena altar in my house, the two ladies I pray to on a daily are Mi Virgen de Guadalupe and Santa Selena... so on this day I pray that she's happy in heaven and can feel all the love we are sending her... We Hella Miss You and Love You Selena!!!! Anything for Salinas!!!

Now check out this video of Selena giving us a lesson on Mexican-American music history in the Southwest... Wacha!!!

and like Selenas dad in the movie (Edward James Olmos) likes to say...
"We've gotta be more Mexican than the Mexicans and more American than the Americans both at the same time. It's exhausting!"

I really dig Girl In A Coma... I think they are hella talented, they have their own style and I'm mad crushing on lead singer Nina Diaz... I think she's hella cute, I love her style, and these girls can fucking rock Tejana Style! I'm way into Chicanas that don't give a damn what people think about them and just do what they love and believe is right for them, and I think the ladies of Girl In A Coma Jen, Phanie, and Nina are fine examples of that... it's just like they say, "well behaved women rarely make history"- Lauren Thatcher Ulrich

The video below is the best cover of any Selena song I've ever ever ever heard before... Awwww man, it makes me wet and that's for sheerrr!!!

They will be in SF this summer... can't wait to see them!!!

Last week my netflix lineup was devoted to Brazil... The following three films were my favorite, I'm not gonna lie, I cried watching them... don't judge me ayyyy, I was feeling all emo and I blame the hormones but don't be fooled by my Sad Girl tears, I'll still cut you okayyy!!! These films are Breezy Approved, Enjoy!!!

I love crafty ladies and all the dope stuff they make... if you love that too you should check out The Pink Parlour Festival this Sunday March 27th at the Santa Anita Race Track in Southern Califas. They will be having a car show, fashion show, vendors, bands, arts and crafts, food and drinks... that sounds like a fun Sunday to me, so if you can holler at it!!!

I just want to take a minute to give a shout out and show some love to three of the finest piece of ass Oakland has to offer, my breezys Jen a.k.a. Lollipop, Nic a.k.a. Coco Machate, and Amber a.k.a. Prince from Hottub!!! I love these ladies, they are so sweet and talented, they give not a fuck and their music is like smoking the best kryptochronolite while on ecstasy and drunk, and I don't mind that spandex booty shaken either, Holla!!!

Mad props to the boys in the band too, Jason and Mark... gotta love them beats!!!

We are the ones that create our history, and we must fight to keep our legacy alive for generations to come, we have the right to empower our youth with knowledge and pride... Don't ever be scared to speak your mind and fight for what you believe is just and needed. It is up to us to inspire our youth, educate, and lead our Raza into a brighter future...

Shout out to the homie Cesar Cruz from Homies Empowerment Program here in Oakland, Califas for sharing this with me, and mad props to the youth in the struggle... La Lucha Sigue!!!

I want to send a shout out and a thank you to the homegirl Stephanie "Cholita" Flores from Sacramento for sending me a lovely birthday package last month, sorry it took me a minute but I really do appreciate the gesture lady!!! I LOVE getting fan mail, and meeting fans of my blog, they're always hella nice and sweet... so if you see me around holler cuz I wanna meet cha!!!

Amongst all the little gifts she sent me where these two prints... the one above is my favorite, and homage to cholitas and it's made from a stencil. The piece below is also very beautiful and I believe it's a screen print. I'm not sure if she made them herself, she said something about her best friend making them but either way I appreciate all the love Cholita Flores, Shhhaaauuuwww!!! Stay Brown Homegirl!!!

Last weekend we went to see Felipe Esparza perform at The Punch Line comedy club... he's one of the funniest stoners ever and believe me, I know stoners! lol He was last years winner of the tv show "Last Comic Standing", if he's ever in your hood you should check him out fo sho!!!

I really want to see the movie "Salvando Al Soldado Perez" (Saving Private Perez) when it comes out... it's refreshing to see films coming out of Mexico that are not just depressing, or hella political with no sense of humor... it shows a part of Mexican culture that not many in the U.S. are familiar with unless you live in a border town. Finally somebody making fun of Mexicans in an intelligent manner and not just using the same stereotypes... Welcome to Narcoladia!!!

Speaking of fancy narcos, check out these nails showing some love to Mari Juana and Mexican narco saint Malverde... now that's legit, and I need them in my life for sheeer!!!

There has been many narco corridos made about Malverde, but the one below is my favorite cuz Los Cadetes de Linares are the bizzness!!!

I like this version way better than Tony Bennets' or Frank Sinatras'... to me it has more soul, a certain "je ne sais quoi" (yes, this breezy knows some french)... I wanna slow dance to this jam while overlooking the bay! I think Steve Jordan (RIP) is one of the best Chicano musicians that ever lived, and he sure is missed!!! Shout out to all my Tejanos out there, Shhhaaauuuwww!!!

Wisdom comes with age... it's nice to see the older homies share their knowledge with the young ones, sometimes all we need is a little push towards the right direction...

The movie Lambada (1990) may be a bit cheesy but I still like it, in fact I love anything with Adolfo QuiƱones in it! No, not really, but I do really really love him in Breakin' (1984) and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984). He's got moves for days...

Don't laugh at me, but the song below "Lambada" by Kaoma is one of those songs that will forever be embedded in my brain. I first heard it as a lil morrita, and let me tell you, this song makes me feel all sexy and steamy like I need to be dancing lambada with some hot vato on the beach, y zazzz you know what happens after that!!!

I'm not gonna front, I'm a J.Lo fan, I think she's a very smart ,hard working business woman, and she's a beautiful Latina... but that don't mean I have to love all of her music. Her new single "On the Floor" featuring Pitbull is kinda wack in my opinion... the only thing I love besides her outfits is the beat cuz it's straight Lambada, you be the judge, watcha!!!

I'm Hella feeling this jam right now and this video is tight, old school Soul Train is the shitzzznit and The Dramatics are killing it, their colorful suits and smooth moves are making me feel all warm inside and shit...

Just a few pics from the Pachuca Cosmetics make-up party I went to a couple of weeks ago in San Jo...

It started with a makeup and hair demonstration and class by my homegirl Diana Cortez, followed by a fun lounge party where you could have a few drinks and shop for some dope make-up...

The beautiful Maria owner of Pachuca Cosmetics and I (above), she is so sweet and exemplifies what a classy pachuca is, fa sho!

The homegirl Margarita aka "Thee Northern Soulera"and I (above), It's always a pleasure to see her!

The Deadend Magazine boys, Juan and Jesus Espinoza stopped by to show some support!

The Espinoza hermanos, Maria, and artist Abraham Ortega who did the artwork for the new Pachuca collection, he's such a sick artist!!!

I'm planning on hosting one of these parties here in Oakland in the month of May, if any of you ladies out there are interested in joining us I will be posting the details closer to the date. Thank you so much for having us Maria and Pachuca Cosmetics Crew, I had hella fun!!!

As you may all know by now, I love me some Miss Amanda Lopez!!! She's one of the best happenings since tortillas, and I will travel far and wide to support this bad-ass Chicanita, and so should you... So come on up to Sacramento's Spanglish Arte next Saturday March 12th from 6-9pm and bring some dinero cuz you're gonna want to buy some cute shit from their retail space, and some dope arte from Lady Lopez!!! Oh, btw those are my fancy hands on the flyer, watcha!!! See ya there!!!

Hollering at my Southern Califas peeps, you need to go here...

Cruise To The Lake 2011 - (Woodley Park, Van Nuys)

Los Boulevardos presents Cruise To The Lake 2011

Here it is. Mark your calendars! You're all invited to cruise out to Woodley Park (theres a lake somewhere around there) on Saturday March 5th. Its going to be a great time to celebrate the end of winter. The only thing we need is you and your cars! We'll have plenty of hotdogs, chips, and drinks on hand. But feel free to br
ing anything else you'd like to grill up.

The location is in the San Fernando Valley. Woodley Park in Van Nuys to be exact. The entrance to our lot is on Woodley. Same entrance as the Japanese Garden, but the lot is just off the street. Lower lot, not the one closer to Victory that faces the street. Take the Burbank Boulevard exit off the 405 and head west. Make a right on Woodley and go up less than a mile. Turn into the lot that has the sign for the Japanese Garden. Look for the ez ups and the Los Boulevardos banner.

Its a great spot with plenty of parking, picnic tables, and playground for the kids. Lots of grass. So bring the whole family. We'll be playing music all day. We will also be raffling off lots of some really cool stuff. A few art pieces and some other prizes. Details will be posted on raffle items in the weeks to come. We'll also be doing a 50/50 raffle.

There is no charge to get into the park and we dont charge a dime to get into our show or to eat our grub. Save your money for the raffle!! All proceeds of the raffle go to benefit the Veterans Hospital. Feel free to make donations in the form of thirts, undershirts, and socks as well. These guys need alot of that stuff. And it would be great to help them out and show our appreciation for their service.

So come on out and join us! Cruise your ride for a good cause. We hope to see you all there.

Oakland Cruise Night with the Royal Jokers is back tomorrow Friday March 4th for the 2011 season... Don't be a leva and come out to kick it con los homies, good times are guaranteed!!!
