The film Vatos Locos is premiering this May 5th, and starring the one and only "Miklo" (Damian Chapa) from probably the best cholo film ever made and a personal favorite Blood In Blood Out. Okay, I don't mean to be such a hater, but really I can't help it, it's like these vatos locos are asking for it! First of all, Miklo is hella old now, and looks more and more like Joe Pesci, don't you think? lol... Secondly, this film is way too violent, I mean yeah it's dealing with gangs and we all know what that entails but why all the blood dude?, too gory for this chola... less gore, more cultura is what I say! Lastly, WHY??? It's obvious they are trying to make this a sort of sequel to Blood In Blood Out but this shit don't even come close! Why fuck with a good thing? Miklo just needs to kick back and let us remember him as the down-ass white homie that dusted El Spider, and became El Jefe of La Onda!!! I mean if you're gonna mess with a good things it better blow my mind, and this film just kinda blows, period. Pobrecito Milkweed!!!

Like it or not, La Onda Lives!!! Vatos Locos Forever!!!

Meet my homies Los Rakas, straight from Panama via Oakland, Califas... I have been meaning to post about them for a long time now and have been mad lagging, and I apologize for that Raka Dun y Raka Rich... but I thought this was the perfect time to do it since they just came out with their new music video for "Kalle" and are finally back home from being on tour with The Grouch, check it...

The video below for "Abrazame" features my homegirl Favi, and was taped just down the street from my old house en La Mission... hella repp'n for San Pancho, Aztlan!!! Check out the first track off her EP, HERE...

Dope right?! I Hella love their music, a mix of reggae, dancehall, plena, y hip-hop con sabor Latino, they definitely know how to get me feeling hyphy. The best part is that they are so humble and down to earth... they have worked really hard to get to where they're at and take nothing for granted, always giving back to la gente, they're our local heroes, keep it going Rakas... East Oakland Represent!!!

My dream of meeting Chicano comic artist Jaime Hernandez came true last Friday at the opening reception for "Novelas, Love, and Other Adventures" at MACLA , and being able to share an exhibit with him, Rio Yañez, and Favianna Rodriguez was just the icing on the pastel...
Jaime y La Breezy... we talked a lot about growing up in Oxnard, Califas and when he signed my book he wrote "Two words... BIG CHIQUES" (Chiques=biggest gang in [La Colonia] Oxnard) that solidified our cholo connection and the rest is history. I look forward to visiting his studio next time I'm down in L.A.!!!

The always lovely Miss Amanda Lopez, myself, and Rio = Hella!!!

My boo El Angel and I

Below is a lil video that the local San Jose University newspaper made... sorry for my tacky gum chewing I was kinda caught off guard, you

After the show we headed down the street to the bar to celebrate my birthday... Thanks for the drinks Jaime!!!
